Implementing STOP-BANG for Pre-operative Screening of Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Abstract

The perioperative staff at David Grant Medical Center (DGMC) sought a quick and reliable means for screening patients who may have undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The aims of this evidence-based practice (EBP) project were to implement the STOP-BANG screening tool for risk stratification of OSA and compare our results with current literature and with military rates of OSA.
