Tuning Lanthanide Binding Peptides for Optical Bionanomaterials Data Management Plan
Abstract
Lanthanides have long been studied for their unique optical properties, having well defined emission bands, large Stokes shifts, and long fluorescence lifetimes. Small synthetic Lanthanide Binding Peptides (LBPs) offer a framework for developing novel materials with unique visible and near infrared (VIS/NIR) excitation/emission properties. To understand the extent to which the LBP framework can be used to tune excitation spectra to different wavelengths, we propose to explore the operational space of LBP and LBP-derived VIS/NIR materials using high-throughput genetic engineering, scanning antenna molecules for amplification across the VIS/NIR spectra and examining the potential for LBP supramolecular particles and nanomaterials to increase/change LBP performance.
