Audio-Frequency Sweep Equipment

Abstract

The audio-frequency sweep equipment has been developed at the Naval Research Laboratory for use in jamming enemy c-w signals. To produce this jamming, the jamming transmitter carrier is tunes to the frequency of the enemy signal. The sweep equipment then causes the transmitter carrier to be swept, at random through an audio-frequency range. The resultant disturbance in a receiving operator from coping the keyed signals. This report describes in detail the functional theory, the method of operation, and the results of the tests performed on this equipment.
