Recommendations for the Next Generation of Business Health Metrics

Abstract

As an organization with 2.9 million employees operating 24/7/365 around the globe and with an annual budget of $753 billion, the DOD has access to vast amounts of data. At present, the DOD has a promising data analytics program used by the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense to calibrate their perspective of the DOD business enterprise. The opportunity that the DOD has, per the TOR for this Study, is to improve the presentation of that data in a manner that will better enable DOD leadership to measure the DODs performance against the business functions that support its mission: to provide combat-capable military forces needed to deter war and to protect the security of our nation.
