Development of Three Cognitive Assessments for Officer Classification

Abstract

Assessments, developed for the Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences, for three cognitive ability constructs identified in previous research as important for Army officers were assessed via a construct validity study and a pilot test study. Results from these studies were reviewed and it was found that the measures were generally functioning as intended, with all three assessments demonstrating the ability to differentiate between high and low performers. Testing procedures and specific findings for each construct are discussed.
