Shrink Porosity Analysis by Segmentation and Thresholding

Abstract

Accurately quantifying shrink porosity from digital radiographs can be challenging. Traditionally, radiographers will rely on extensive training and experience to determine if a certain amount of shrink porosity is acceptable or exceeds the limits dictated by radiographic specifications. In this paper, a program was devised that can quantify the amount of shrink porosity present in an item.
