Development of Model XCX Boat Type Sono Radio Buoy

Abstract

This report describes the development of a boat type, anchored Sono Radio Buoy for use in harbor defense in the detection of underwater sound. The problem was essentially a redesign of the JM equipment, now in service, on the basis of operation information obtained from this service. Tests of the completed equipment verified the original proposition that a single unit buoy of boat design simplified servicing and permitted operation in sea states that would cause failures in JM equipment.
