Anti-Fouling Paint Studies 2: An Investigation of the Inherent Errors in Leaching Rate Measurements

Abstract

Early experience involving leaching rate values have indicated inherent errors in the leaching rate technique. This report describes an investigation of the extent of this error as encountered in normal studies. The mean error introduced in the leaching rate technique is determined along with the over-all error resulting from the preparation of the paint batches and their application to panels with a result that the error of the leaching rate determination is somewhat smaller than that attributed to the preparation of duplicate batches of paint.
