Experimental and Computational Investigations of Deformation Behavior of Icosahedral Boron-Rich Ceramics

Abstract

A comparative study of four pressure-sensitive phenomenological constitutive models (Mohr Coulomb (MC), Drucker-Prager (DP), extended-MC, and Johnson Holmquist (JH-2)) found that only the extended-MC model (developed by the PI s group from previous funding) captures the entire spectrum of material response well beyond HEL with a single equation: i.e., linear response at low pressures, experimentally observed nonlinear response at higher pressures up to HEL, and the pressure-independent response beyond HEL. This study was published in the International Journal of Impact Engineering [1].
