The Analysis of Natural and Synthetic Rubber by Infrared Spectroscopy

Abstract

The report describes an investigation of the applicability of infrared spectroscopic methods for determination of the elastomer composition of industrial rubber products. The investigation has comprised several distinct phases, which can be divided roughly as: (1) development and evaluation of generally feasible techniques for obtaining a valid spectrum of the elastomer content of any rubber specimen, and (2) development and evaluation of detailed analytical procedures for certain representative cases.
