Data Compilation in Support of Single Laboratory Validation of a Novel Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Detection Method for Environmental Matrices

Abstract

The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) performed statistical analyses to assist in the validation of the novel mass spectrometry detection methods of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as part of the DoDs Single Laboratory Validation study. IDA processed the data reported by the laboratory to calculate the average native concentration, the average spike concentration, and the percent recovery of the PFAS analytes in aqueous and solid type matrices from the environment. Additionally, IDA calculated the average spike concentration and percent recovery of the PFAS isotopically labeled internal standards in the same eight matrices. IDA also calculated the ongoing precision and recovery, limit of quantitation verification, and method blank spike recovery for the PFAS analytes. Over 100 data tables were automatically generated by an IDA-coded Python computer script to illustrate the performance of the PFAS analytical method with environmental media.
