Self-Description Inventory Officer (SDI-O): Item-, Facet-, and Domain-Level Analyses

Abstract

The purpose of this technical report is to document the psychometric evaluation of the Self Description Inventory-Officer (SDI-O) included in the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) Form T. The Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) is used to qualify applicants for officer commissioning or for aircrew training. A personality test, the Self-Description Inventory (SDI), was included as an experimental subtest on the AFOQT. The purpose of this report is to document a psychometric evaluation of the AFOQT Form T SDI at the item-, facet-, and domain-levels. Data consisted of responses from US Air Force officer applicants who were administered AFOQT Form T between 2017 and 2020. Overall, some facets demonstrated acceptable psychometric properties, while other facets did not. The domain-levels showed mediocre psychometric properties, however domain-level scores were not intended for operational use.
