Team Measures for the Military Advisor Training Academy

Abstract

Before being assigned to a security force assistance brigade (SFAB), advisors are trained at the Military Advisor Training Academy (MATA). At the MATA, student advisors must work together with their advising teams and their foreign security counterparts to complete scenario-based training. Assessment of student performance has primarily focused at the individual-level, overlooking the nuances of team performance and neglecting opportunities for feedback for teamwork improvement. Previous research (Orvis et al., 2022) developed a set of team measures appropriate to the MATA context. This report describes how the measures should be used and scored and provides printable versions of the measures for instructor use.
