Epigenetic Modifications of Cytosines in Clear Cell Kidney Carcinogenesis and Survival

Abstract

This project aims to characterize the specific genome-wide DNA methylation and hydroxymethylation patterns in clear cell renal cell carcinoma-ccRCC, evaluate whether specific changes in DNA hydroxymethylation are related to changes in cancer survival, and examine whether the observed changes in DNA hydroxymethylation and DNA methylation alter the expression of mRNA and miRNA in the ccRCC. Kidney samples from the Renal Cancer Bank at Dartmouth will be used in this project. Tandem DNA OxyBs conversion will be performed and used to measure the levels of these features through Illumina Human Methylation EPIC microarrays. mRNA-seq and miRNA-seq information will be obtained for the samples.
