The Development of the Hydrolube Non-Inflammable Hydraulic Fluids
Abstract
This report concerns the development of non-flammable hydraulic fluids suitable for use in aircraft. A survey of the few types of fluids appearing essentially non-flammable from specially devised flammability tests, indicated that aqueous fluids held the most promise. Research on this kind of fluid led to the development of the Hydrolubes, which are defined as polymer-thickened corrosion-inhibited aqueous fluids having one or more of the glycols as the major constituents.
