Abstract

It is pointed out in this report that primary emphasis in the development of a secure IFF system must be given to the introduction of a coded transmission which satisfactorily prevent the enemy from appearing as a friend and that only secondary emphasis should be given to the means of preventing the system from being used as a cheap radar by the enemy.
