Survey of Rapid-Scanner Principles

Abstract

This report is a survey of rapid-scanning antennas, their system requirements, and principles of design. Requirements of future system which find need for rapid-scanning techniques are described. Principles of rapid-scanner design are discussed. Present antenna types are discussed. Present antenna types are described in detail and analyzed in the light of possible future systems. Proposed scanning methods are discussed and recommendations made as to those lines of research which pertain most directly to improved rapid-scanner designs. This report concludes the work on this phase of the problem. Work will continue on the basic problem 34R09-23.
