Characterization of Emissions Produced by the Open Burning/Open Detonation Thermal Treatment of Complex Munitions, Vol 3

Abstract

A considerable quantity of obsolete and/or unsafe propellent, explosives and pyrotechnics (PEP) are stockpiled and must be disposed of in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. The most appropriate way to dispose of most of these materials is by open burning (OB) or open detonation (OD). Of environmental concern, however, is the possible pollution of the air, soil, and water during such operations.
