Technical Information Paper (TIP) 51-006-1112: Before- and After-Noise Control Treatment Risk Assessment at an Indoor Tactical Multi-Lane Army Firing Range

Abstract

The 2012 Technical Information paper (TIP) compares impulse noise levels measured at an Army indoor multi-lane tactical shooting range for multiple commonly used small arms weapons prior to and after installation of wall and ceiling noise control treatments intended to reduce sound reverberations in the facility. Effects on noise levels, B-durations and allowable number of rounds are presented along with recommendations in terms of firing restrictions (allowable number of rounds that can be fired in a 24-hour period) for the treated and untreated facility.
