The Naval Research Laboratory and its Mission of a Century 1923-2023: 100 Science and Engineering Contributions to Sea Power and National Security
Abstract
This report was written to accomplish three goals. The first is to commemorate the centennial of the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) by featuring 100 achievements that illustrate its extraordinary impact on American naval power and national security. The second goal is to collect and preserve NRL's corporate memory a fundamental resource vital to an organizations sense of purpose, direction, and pride. Finally, as an agency of the United States Government, the third goal is to deliver an account of what the Laboratory has accomplished with public funds, which is basic to good governance in a healthy democracy.
