U.S. Leadership in Software Engineering and AI Engineering: Critical Needs and Priorities Workshop - Executive Summary

Abstract

Advances in software engineering and artificial intelligence (AI) are providing critical and innovative capabilities across almost every domain, but the potential remains to do far more, particularly for applications that demand high levels of trustworthiness. To inform a community strategy for building and maintaining U.S.leadership in software engineering and AI engineering, the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) program in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy co-hosted a workshop at the National Science Foundation June 20-21, 2023.
