Hearing Protection Device Selection Training

Abstract

Sound attenuation through hearing protection devices (HPDs) may raise competing concerns for military personnel in operational settings. The DHA Hearing Center of Excellence (HCE) created tools to aid selection of the most appropriate passive HPDs. Courses available through mil University include these tools to support hearing health professionals who recommend HPDs to service members based on their suitability for specific occupational and work environments. Course taker survey responses indicate that these resources improve knowledge of HPDs as well as factors to inform their recommended use.
