Further Research on the Hydrolube Fluids

Abstract

Recent work at this Laboratory on Hydrolubes (glycolwater solutions containing a water-soluble polymer and corrosion inhibitors) has been aimed at decreasing the wear rate in hydraulic pumps and the swelling rate of various types of hydraulic packing without causing a loss in corrosion inhibition. A gradually improving series of aircraft fluids, Hydryolubes U, U-2, U-3, and U-4 has resulted from these studies.
