Role Modeling Resilience Via Belonging

Abstract

Regardless of the work setting, it is important that employees feel a sense of belonging within their job and confidence in their ability to be resilient during change or stressful situations. In this research, ARI investigated the impact of role models on follower resilience and belonging at work. In line with social learning theory, results showed that having a role model was linked to higher levels of follower resilience. Further, this relationship was partially mediated by belonging, suggesting that role models inspire belonging which can motivate Soldier resilience.
