Building a New Generation of Wargame Professionals with Intention: From Avalon Hill to Oregon Trail and Beyond

Abstract

The author suggests that those in the professional wargaming discipline intentionally seek the next generation of wargamers if they are to overcome the elite, relatively exclusive nature of the field to date. Using a literature review on diversity and a case study of historical hobby board games, the author offers ideas and sources for finding the next generation of professional wargames.
