Intelligence Data Model for Advanced Planning Aids

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to define the adversary course of action supporting data model and how it relates to The Automated White Cell (TAWC), which is a theoretical advanced planning aid construct. Newly proposed operating concepts rely on smaller concentrations of forces with potentially more information to process. This model forces military leaders to rely on more intuitive decision making and/or use technology to support traditionally human analytical functions. For new technology to be a significant and reliable contributor to planning, software developers must consider doctrinal processes like the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace (IPB). Countless years of experience is imbedded in military publications and there is sparse literature on mapping doctrinal models of uncertainty reduction to leading technologies. This thesis explores how processes lead to discovery, therefore reducing surprises in a battlespace.
