Ground Based Strategic Deterrent Test Program Environmental Assessment / Overseas Environmental Assessment

Abstract

The United States (U.S.) Department of the Air Force (DAF), Global Strike Command and Space Launch Delta (SLD) 30 of the United States Space Force prepared an Environmental Assessment / Overseas Environmental Assessment (EA/OEA) to analyze implementation of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Test Program. GBSD would eventually replace the aging Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system. Before DAF can make future decisions to transition the Minuteman III weapon system from active status to the GBSD weapon system, developmental and operational program testing of the new system must occur. Test program related actions will occur at Hill Air Force Base(HAFB) in Utah, Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) in California, and at the Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).
