A Model Technique for the Measurement of the Radar Characteristics of Targets

Abstract

A system for the measurement of the radar area of target models is described in detail. A target model, introduced into the field of an electromagnetic horn antenna. causes the unbalance of a previously balance hybrid junction placed in the antenna feed. The amount of unbalance is a function of the radar area of the model. The unbalance is a function of the radar area of the model. The unbalance signal from the hybrid junction is amplified by a receiver and applied to a polar recorder, which in turn utilizes this signal, and synchro information from the model rotator, to give a polar plot of the radar area of the model.
