End-to-End Optimization with Edge Intelligence for Reliable Wireless IoT Communication
Abstract
The original research objective to assess the quality of mobile broadband (MBB) services in rural areas using four main performance metrics: coverage, latency, satisfaction, and speed, has been successfully completed with a 100 achievement rate. The PADDIE-C19 prototype, which aimed to implement physical distancing monitoring to prevent COVID-19 infection, has also been completed with remarkable results. The prototype achieved an outstanding accuracy of 74.65 in person detection and an average absolute error of only 8.95 cm in measuring physical distance. In the realm of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) research, the goal was to develop a secure and practical multi-message and multi-receiver signcryption scheme for transferring patient health-related data. This research is now fully completed, and the proposed scheme, which used certificate-based signcryption and hyperelliptic curve cryptography (HECC), demonstrated excellent performance and security. Lastly, the research on Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) aimed to enhance the performance of mobile communications by reducing delays and energy consumption. I'm pleased to report that this research has been successfully concluded, and the findings confirmed that the combination of MEC and NOMA offers superior energy savings, lower latency, and supports massive connectivity. The research on MBB services found that 4G services provide better coverage, lower latency, higher satisfaction, and faster speed than 3G services. The PADDIE-C19 prototype demonstrated the effectiveness of using edge computing to implement physical distancing monitoring to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The IoMT research proposed a practical and secure signcryption scheme that addressed certificate management, key escrow, and key distribution complications.
