Preparation of Silicone Compounds for Use in High-Temperature Organic Finishes-II

Abstract

This investigation of silicon polymer systems for use in high-temperature resistant coatings has been extended. The effect of meta-and para-fluorophenyl and of meta-trifluoromethyiphenyl groups on silicone resins containing them has been determined. These single substituents failed to improve the heat resistance of the resins. Silicones prepared directly from Grignard reaction mixtures were shown to be inferior to those prepared from pure chlorsilanes at the same charge ratios.
