Control Adaptor for Telegraph Terminal Set AN/FGC-5
Abstract
The on-line crypto-security system employing the random cipher generator, AFSAX-500, has been extended to include the encryption of the output signals of Telegraph Terminal Set AN/FGC-5 (electronic multiplex). The control adaptor for the AN/ FGC-5 is adaptable to the electronic multiplex without any physical changes to the latter and with only minor changes in operational procedure. It has fully automatic protection devices to maintain a continuous check on the adequacy and accuracy of the enciphering process. Preliminary laboratory tests have indicated the practicability of the system; however, more adequate evaluation of the operational use must await extensive field tests on the preproduction models.
