Scientific Roundtable Quick-Look Report Tromso, Norway

Abstract

On 03 October 2023, the RDC hosted a Scientific Roundtable discussion between researchers and operators from the U.S., Norway, and Canada. The discussion was held in Tromso, Norway, aboard CGC Healy. The primary topics were Arctic Vessel Safety and Navigation, Arctic Search and Rescue, and Arctic Pollution/Environmental Response. The discussion allowed operators to describe their challenges to enable researchers to discuss potential technological solutions, and for researchers to discuss their pertinent work so operators could identify potential uses for it. This product summarizes the discussion and several major takeaways, including potential research collaboration efforts regarding shallow water bathymetry, SAR asset response modeling, and ice navigation systems.
