The Development of Best Practice Penetrating TBI Guidelines for Military and Civilian Patients

Abstract

We will unite key military and civilian resources and investigators with successful track-records in developing and disseminating clinical practice guidelines with the concerted effort of using a consensus-based process towards generating evidence-based clinical algorithms. The convening neurosurgeons have joined forces to update the BTF 4th Edition guidelines and to form and lead a body of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to address the risks they saw for penetrating traumatic brain Injury (pTBI) especially the challenge of this traumatic vascular problem posed to the population at large. Their journey has culminated to this moment when international SMEs will gather to finalize the updates for the pTBI Management Guidelines.
