USARIEM Developed Algorithms for the National Guard Bureau: Challenges and Lessons Learned
Abstract
Leadership at the National Guard Bureau (NGB) (Arlington, VA) sought cost-effective solutions to safely extend the Homeland Response Force's (HRF) and Chemical Biological Nuclear Radiological and Explosive Enhanced Response Force Package's (CERF-P) downrange operations. They turned to USARIEM, the leading research organization within the Department of Defense (DoD) that assesses health and performance of service members working under extreme operational and environmental conditions. To extend downrange operations for this NGB customer, based on the number of constraints that the HRF/CERF-P units had, USARIEM recommended the use of three mission planning applications (apps). This Technical Note examines the challenges faced in delivering these recommended solutions to the NGB.
