Quantum Materials by Design with Electromagnetic Excitation

Abstract

Major Goals: The major goals of our MURI program were to create new out-of-equilibrium quantum phases of matter in correlated electron systems via strong electromagnetic field excitation, and to realize strategies to control their properties on-demand. Starting in year 2, our efforts were organized into 4 thrusts identified as the most promising areas of investigation within the scope of our program, and they did not change from that point onwards. The 4 thrusts were: (1) Floquet engineering, (2) Coherent mode control, (3) Photo-doping, and (4) THz control.
