IEEE CNS Conference Student Travel Support Proposal

Abstract

Major Goals: This is an ARO Travel Grant to support IEEE CNS conferences for years 2015 and 2016. The IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (IEEE CNS) is a conference series in the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) core conference portfolio and the only ComSoc conference focusing solely on cybersecurity. IEEE CNS provides a premier forum for security researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and users to exchange ideas, techniques and tools, raise awareness, and share experience related to all practical and theoretical aspects of cybersecurity. Accomplishments: IEEE CNS, along with NSF, ARO, IEEE, and other sponsors, encouraged student participation at the conference. With the support of NSF and ARO, CNS partially supported the travel, accommodation, and registration costs of student registrants who might otherwise be unable to attend the conference. The ARO grant has supported 10 students each for IEEE CNS 2015 and CNS 2016. The ARO travel grant selection criteria is as follows: A student must be a graduate student studying in an accredited U.S. institution at the time of attending CNS 2015. Student recipients must submit valid receipts for reimbursement after the conference. Only airfare on a US-based carrier will be reimbursed by this type of support.
