T and E of Cognitive EW: An Assurance Case Framework (Conference Presentation)

Abstract

Many international standards bodies have adopted the assurance case as a best practice for establishing the dependability (i.e., safety, security, reliability, effectiveness) of complex systems. This briefing provides a framework for test and evaluation (T and E) to support assurance cases for systems with autonomous capabilities, and outlines how that framework could apply to T and E of cognitive electronic warfare (EW) systems. It also discusses specific methods for developing evidence that could be used, and software tools for assurance case development and management.
