Briefing to the URSA Legal, Moral, and Ethical WG: Assuring Ethical Behavior with AI-Enhanced Capabilities

Abstract

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) convened a working group to examine the Legal, Moral, and Ethical (LME) considerations for artificial intelligence (AI) enhanced capabilities (AIECs). Part of this consideration is how you would provide assurance that a system is LME compliant. OED has developed a framework for providing assurance more generally for AI-enabled systems, and the LME working group invited the authors to brief them on this topic.
