Experimentation: The Road to Military Discovery

Abstract

Experimentation is key to the U.S. military and Joint Force discovering new and feasible warfighting concepts that will help meet peer threats in the 2035 timeframe. However, the current "bottom up" approach to experimentation is being Army- led which means the Joint Staff, other Services, Special Operations Forces, interagency and multinational partners must become involved early on in order to shape and influence the experimentation process. This will help avoid Service parochialism and ensure U.S. capabilities in the air, land, sea, space and cyber domains are leveraged to the maximum extent by the Joint Force.
