Application of Wire+ Arc Additive Manufacture to Primary Metallic Elements

Abstract

Within this program, The PI and team have reviewed 3 nickel based and 1 cobalt based alloy for high strength, high temperature and corrosion resistant applications. They have prepared this report with five pieces of completed work presented as appendices describing the additive manufacture of IN625, IN718, Rene41 and H188. The impact of inter-pass cold working and different solutionizing treatment during post deposition heat treatment were also studied. They were planning to synthesize the findings and compare the strengthening response to different treatments between these different alloys but unfortunately in this report they could not include it as some more work needs to be done, however, the report contains all the data pertaining to the different WAAM deposition of these 4 alloys and in particular Rene41 and IN718 was experimented in significant depth to understand their response to cold working during deposition.
