Congressional Commission on the U.S. Strategic Posture

Abstract

Congress plays an important role in U.S. nuclear weapons policy through funding and oversight of U.S. strategic military capabilities and related programs carried out by the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The Senate also considers providing advice and consent to ratification of arms control treaties negotiated by the executive branch.
