The story of a great experiment in social research in which the author participated and whose events were important and instructive for American social science in the mid-1960s and later. Offers a personal account by a responsible participant of the fiasco which resulted from the U.S. government's efforts in the mid-1960s to sponsor social science research as an aid to the waging of counterinsurgency warfare.
