Hull 3000 Design and Modeling

Abstract

In fiscal years 2022 and 2023, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) Ship Structural Modeling and Simulation Branch (Code 651) designed structural scantlings and developed a geometric and finite element model for use in public-releasable research and development projects. NSWCCD used only the American Bureau of Shipping Marine Vessel Rules 2022 criteria to develop structural scantlings. NSWCCD created a high-fidelity geometric model, utilizing parametric modeling methods to make the model as versatile as possible. The primary purpose of this model is to capture global hull-girder ship response for dynamic hull whipping analysis.
