Final Report: Neurophysiology and Cognitive Neuroscience (8.4): Sensorimotor Function in Elite Soldiers and Athletes
Abstract
Success in many human endeavors requires individuals to efficiently process visual information in order to generate swift and appropriate motor actions. The essential nature of such sensorimotor skills is particularly important in activities such as athletics, military engagement, and law enforcement where visual information can be sparse and consequences can be high. In recent years, there has been a concerted effort to understand which aspects of sensorimotor function are enhanced in high-achieving individuals so these can be considered during recruitment and scouting, or targeted in training and rehabilitation programs.
