Abstract

Ideally, 1D shock to produce uniform flow - Large amount of driver gas run into driven side as quickly as possible for ideal 1D shock generation - Shock formation takes time (shock velocity tilde 800 m/s in Ar ), 1 ms tilde 0.8 m in length, 5 ms tilde 4 m in length - Diaphragm/valve should open tilde 1 2 ms if the tube length < 5 m - Fast opening valve: 5 10 ms opening time (too slow).
