Quasiparticles in Superconducting Circuits

Abstract

The objectives of this project were to study the behavior of Bogoliubov quasiparticles in superconducting quantum circuits. These quasiparticles are a key source of decoherence for superconducting qubits, and can cause correlated errors in quantum processors which are particularly hard to correct. The project aimed to study quasiparticle behavior with the goal of finding and testing ways to reduce quasiparticle-induced decoherence.
