Observation Uncertainty Estimation: Desrozier Diagnostic with Python

Abstract

This report introduces a software tool designed to compute observation uncertainty utilizing the Desroziers method. Notably, this software enables users to flexibly calculate observation error covariance across user-defined regions for specific periods. The outputs generated by this software hold potential applications in other methodologies, including the three-cornered hat method and machine learning-based uncertainty estimation frameworks.
