The Specificity of Intradermal Tests with Tsuverkalov's Allergen (Dysenterin),

Abstract

Tsuverkalov's allergen caused positive intradermal reactions in 85.7% of the patients with acute dysentery. In the case of diseases of nondysenteric etiology, but with expressed allergic component, sharply intradermal tests with the dysenterin did not show up; weakly positive reactions are noted in a small percentage of the cases, which is indicative of the preparation's specificity. Tsuverkalov's allergen (dysenterin) is a useful diagnostic preparation and can be recommended for the diagnosis of dysentery under dispensary conditions.
