Study of the Allergenic Properties of Hexamethylenediisocyanate in an Experiment,

Abstract

Results of a study on the allergizing action of hexamethylenediisocyanate (C8H13N2O2) on warm-blooded animals is presented. The compound is used in the production of polyurethane rubber, synthetic fibers, varnishes, adhesives, elastomers, foamed plastics and other products of the chemical industry. Research shows that skin contact with hexamethylenediisocyanate under production conditions can lead to the development of allergic dermatitis in workers. Consequently, appropriate sanitary-engineering, sanitary-hygienic and other preventive measures are necessary.
