Abstract

In the new German Army structure, both the field and the territorial army are of the same size. The field army is divided into armored infantry and infantry divisions, tank divisions, tank regiments and airborne brigades. The armored combat troops are of special importance to frontal defense; they consist of tank battalions and their support units. The article cites how the above mentioned service branches defend and cross water obstacles. Illustrations are included.
